Certainly, even those fortunate enough to be present at the actual birth look forward to a formal birth announcement to memorialize the event just as much as far away friends and family do. First, the hard (yet fun) part: choosing the right design. Before the advent of the Internet, parents did not have much of a selection among the various birth announcement designs. The only baby announcements available came in prepackaged sets that varied pretty much only with the gender of the baby. The Internet changed all that.
